Family Housing

LSLRHA provides 80 Family Housing Units, with 77 in Slave Lake and 3 located in Smith.

Tenants are required to submit an application and will be placed on a waiting list until an appropriate unit is available. Water, heat, sewer and waste removal are included in the rent. Tenants are charged for electricity.

Basic Rents

Tenants are required to pay 30% of their gross total combined income. Rent ranges from $120 to $1200/month. Rent includes water, heat, sewer and waste removal services. Tenants are responsible for paying for electricity, telephone, cable/satellite.    

Please note that LSLRHA reviews household incomes and circumstances annually to determine tenants' continued eligibility and rates for rent for the subsequent year. Tenants are responsible for letting us know when income and other circumstances change, at any time during the year.

Rent Assistance

Direct to Tenant Rent Supplement Program (12 Units)

People who qualify for this provincially subsidized program receive a monthly rental subsidy which is to be used to help pay rent. Those who qualify must pay 30% of their income to their monthly rent, and the supplement program pays the balance of the rent that's owing, as long as it doesn't exceed the $400 subsidy maximum.

Please  note, tenants are responsible for paying their rent and utilities. You must also provide proof of rent payment each month, and LSLRHA will review household incomes annually to determine continued eligibility.

Private Landlord Rent Supplement (11 Units)

This provincially subsidized program allows tenants to rent from a private landlord at 30% of their income. LSLRHA then pays the landlord the balance.

To apply, you must first find a private landlord who is willing to accept you as a tenant under this rent supplement program.

Slave Lake Seniors Affordable Housing Rental Project

This 29 suite apartment building is attached to Vanderwell Heritage Place and is for independent seniors who are 55 years of age and older.

  • 29 units have rent set according to apartment size
  • Rent includes all services (power, water, heat and cable)
  • Units include fridge, stove, microwave
  • Internet is available in common areas
  • Tenants can purchase meal cards
  • Tenants are required to submit applications

Heritage Village Apartments

Two, 17 suite apartment buildings that offer the following:

  • 14 units at market rent
  • 10 units at 20% below market rent
  • 10 units at 30% of tenant's income
